What this site is

WindowReplacementCalculator.com is a free tool for one job: turning a window project (how many windows, what style, what frame and glass, insert or full-frame) into a realistic price range before you talk to contractors. There's no email gate and no sign-up. The calculator runs entirely in your browser.

Who publishes it

The site is published by HomeLynk, an independent home-improvement cost research and estimating publisher. It's part of the HomeLynk home improvement network, alongside:

Window Cost Estimate (windowcostestimate.com) is our sister site for in-depth cost guides by window type, material, home size and state. This site focuses on the calculator.

How the numbers are built

The calculator uses an editorial pricing model: base ranges per window style, with multipliers for frame, glass, installation type, floor level and region. We compare that model against dated, published 2026 data from Modernize, Angi, HomeAdvisor and This Old House, and resale figures from the Cost vs. Value Report. The methodology page shows the full formula, every multiplier, worked examples, a side-by-side comparison with each source and the model's limitations. The model is also published as open JSON data.

Our standards are simple. Every figure we quote names its original source, with a link and date. Our own model is labeled as a model and never presented as survey data. If we can't verify a number on the source's live page, we don't publish it.

How the site makes money

The site is free and doesn't run display ads. The "Get Local Quotes" buttons link to HomeLynk, where homeowners can ask to be matched with local contractors. HomeLynk may be compensated by those contractors. That doesn't change the calculator's model, which is the same for every visitor and is published in full.
