Vinyl window cost by number of windows
Modernize's vinyl guide gives these totals for standard double-hung vinyl windows (Modernize, September 23, 2026):
| Windows | Estimated total |
|---|---|
| 5 | $2,250–$4,000 |
| 10 | $4,200–$7,500 |
| 15 | $6,000–$11,000 |
| 20 | $8,000–$15,000 |
Those totals fall to about $400–$800 per window on 15–20 windows, compared with $450–$800 on 5. Larger orders tend to bring the per-window price down, which this calculator doesn't model.
What moves a vinyl window price
- Product line. Modernize lists typical vinyl prices from $400–$800 (Window World) to $600–$1,100 (Andersen), with Milgard, Pella and Simonton in between.
- Glass package. Low-E coatings, gas fill and triple-pane glass raise the price. Use the glass selector to see the effect.
- Installation method. Full-frame replacement costs more than an insert, which keeps the existing frame. See the full-frame vs. insert calculator.
- Hidden conditions. Rot or water damage, non-standard sizes, permits and trim replacement are the extra costs Modernize says to watch for.
Is vinyl worth it?
For resale value, vinyl does better than wood. In the 2025 Cost vs. Value Report, a midrange vinyl window replacement cost $22,073 nationally and recouped about 76% ($16,657) at resale, against about 70% for wood windows (Remodeling / JLC (Zonda), 2025 edition, released September 2025). Vinyl is also the lowest-maintenance frame. The tradeoffs are fewer color and finish options, and possible heat issues with low-end products.
Questions to ask on a vinyl window quote

- What's the glass package, and what are the U-factor and solar heat gain on the label?
- Is it an insert or a full-frame installation, and how will exterior trim be finished (capping, caulk, new trim)?
- What does the warranty cover (frame, glass seal, labor), and is it transferable?
